At the heart of the Junior League of Jackson’s mission is improving the community. With a focus on children and youth, the 2014-2015 JLJ Community Projects continue to demonstrate our commitment to improving the lives of those we serve. Our community projects are divided into three service areas: Arts and Education, Health Services, and Social Services. Over 900 Active and Provisional Members contribute more than 30,000 hours per year by volunteering for one of our community projects or by serving on one of our in-League committees that support our operations.
From Arts in Motion Summer Camp to the Jackson Public Schools Mini-Grants project, from working with sick children hospitalized at Blair E. Batson to providing weekend meals for children through the Mid-Town Backpack Program, the services that our JLJ volunteers provide to the community make a difference in the lives of many. While we continue with many successful projects, we are excited about our new projects this year. Wholesome and Healthy educates children and their families on the importance of healthy eating and exercise; the Summer ACT Workshops help students improve their opportunities for entering college; and a partnership with the Jackson Zoo enhances its community outreach.
So whether you purchased a ticket to one of our special events, contributed as a corporate sponsor, or bought an event ticket, we thank you for contributing to the success of our 2014 Touch A Truck® Jackson, our 2015 event, and join us at our Third Annual Touch A Truck® Jackson at Trustmark Park on March 24th and 25th. Your support is definitely making our community a better place!
